Steven Moffat was asked about the whole 12 regenerations thing (which means 13 doctors actually, so there’d still be 1 more left anyway), and he said when the time came he’d just make something up to get around it, so don’t worry about that haha!

I’m so on that train though - the idea that there’s a regeneration we don’t know about between McGann and Eccleston, that the Doctor refuses to acknowledge because of the terrible things he did in the Time War… such possibilites!
I suppose there are possibilities to be explored… but that’s a whole regeneration that we don’t get a season of! And that makes Matt Smith the last Doctor unless something fancy happens! I just don’t want it to end, I want happy space time forever ;_;
